Generalized symmetries in quantum field theories and related categorical structures. In particular, how higher categorical structures can be leveraged to understand QFTs.
Past works include supersymmetric QFTs, brane/geometry constructions in string/M/F-theory, quantum anomalies, six-dimensional SCFTs and their compactifications, scattering amplitudes, and string field theory.

Note: RIKEN does not have its own PhD course. However, there are programs for graduate students to conduct research at RIKEN: International Program Associate (IPA) for international students and Junior Research Associate (JRA) for students enrolled in Japanese universities. If you are interested, feel free to contact me.
For postdoc opportunities, see the RIKEN Special Postdoctoral Researcher (SPDR) program. Applications for SPDR starting in year X are typically due in early spring of year X−1. If you are interested, please contact me by February of X−1 or earlier.
